Start typing…Susan and Judith on one side, Yvette and Sharon on the other. Us six girls used to roam around the estate together, I loved it. Susan and Judith were a bit older than us and I was always in awe of them.
My sister Jackie and I were together all the time but having the others to play with as well was a bonus. I was very sad when we moved away when I was 8 years old.
I used to suck my thumb as a child, which was very much frowned upon, and Susan, the eldest must have taken it upon herself to try to put a stop to this habit. She took me down the street and pointed into the window of the bungalow a few doors away and told me that the lady in that house had sucked her thumb so much that it disappeared and now she had no thumb. I believed it at the time. It didn’t stop me though.
