About Minute Memoir

Make The Minute Memoir part of your daily writing practice. It’s scientifically proven that writing’s good for you! Our life-writing prompts invite you to pause, notice, and be fully present. Transform memories into the book of your life.

Our Story

It all started over a decade ago, when we set out to help a much-loved father capture the quiet beauty of his life. What began as a simple book of writing prompts grew into The Accidental Memoir, a life-writing guide published by HarperCollins. From there, we took our passion into the community, leading dozens of workshops and helping people share their stories.

We’ve spent our lives writing novels, scripts and books that spark creativity. The Minute Memoir brings together everything we’ve learned along the way. Our mission is simple: to help you discover the extraordinary in the everyday, one memory at a time. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Who We Are

Eve Makis
I grew up above my parents' fish and chip shop in Nottingham, trained as a journalist, and left my job when my daughter was born to follow my dream of writing a book. Since then, I’ve published four novels, co-written a feature film, and explored all kinds of writing projects inspired by family stories and my Greek Cypriot roots. Writing is where I find calm, clarity, and creative challenge. I hope you’ll find a bit of that here too.

Anthony Cropper
I was born and raised in the seaside town of Fleetwood, Lancashire. I’m the son of a deep-sea fisherman. My love for writing began back at school, where I dabbled in stage and radio plays and discovered the thrill of creating worlds with words. Fast-forward a few years, and in 2001 I was lucky enough to see my first novel in print: a moment that hooked me for good. Since then, I’ve gone on to publish more fiction, written for stage, radio, and screen, and somehow turn my passion for storytelling into a full-time life of writing and teaching.

Eve and Anthony both teach on the MA Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University and work extensively in the community, delivering writing workshops.
